"OH, you know about computers!? Could you take a look at--*puts gun in mouth*
I graduated from UC Davis a few years ago, and what bugged me is that students seemed to love voting in favor of fee hikes for FUTURE students after they left. Hey, not my problem, right?None of these students know what's going on in high school, and none of them care after they graduate. The only reason they're protesting this is because it affects them. Even when I was in college it really bugged me when my peers would get caught up in protests that were purely about them, over issues that they would quickly forget about as soon as they weren't directly involved.Someone has to pay, and no one wants to.

SPF is problematic. For instance, you run into problems with mail forwarding: a forwarded message looks like it comes from the "wrong" host and will set off alarms on SPF-based checks. One thing that SPF is useful for is marking hosts that never send mail. If recipients paid attention to SPF records that said "You'll never get any mail from this domain, ever", a lot of spam could be sent straight to the bit-bucket (until the spammers caught on and stopped forging those domains).

How many times will they change a word that has negative connotations before they realize you can't outrun the euphemism treadmill? The phrase "mentally retarded" was picked because, at the time, it was neutral. If you want meaningful change you won't reach it playing word games. If they want meaningful change they will have to change the way people feel about people who are different from themselves. Good luck with that because people seem to be predisposed to fragment into groups and look down on people outside their group.

Mandelson wasn't nicknamed the 'prince of darkness' for nothing, isn't it about time he was sacked (again, 3rd time's a charm etc.) |
