I'll take the extra 30 seconds boot time if it means I can have a full-blown OS and don't have to become a card carrying member of the Happy Happy Cloud Computing Cult.
Hey genius, fraud != science.

“Care to explain how, for example, Twilight doesn't assign traditional gender roles to its two main characters? All you stated in that long winded paragraph was that essentially digg users are losers who don't understand women.

@KimballOI agree with you that this idea is not scientific, for the reasons you stated. I disagree, however, that it's a waste of time, and that the only value of metaphysical speculation is "as sci-fi".Sure, it's not a scientific idea, but that's ok because there's nothing that says the only good ideas are scientific ones, or that all unscientific ideas are a waste of time. I don't think Demmocritus was wasting his time when he proposed the atom theory of matter, even though it was completely unscientific at the time. Nor do I think Einstein was wasting his time when he proposed his special and general theories of relativity, even though they were born out of thought experiments and not tested empirically until years later. And I don't think string theory is a waste of time, even though it's never been subjected to empirical testing, and it's not even yet clear that it can be tested any time soon.There are examples throughout the history of science of people resorting to speculation and philosophy, especially during times of scientific crisis. What matters is that the ideas they come up with are *in principle* testable. I see no reason why this idea is untestable in principle, even though of course we have no way of testing it right now..
There is no future beyond the LHC.!

Define Internet douchbag in one word: OinkieBlocked.?
Very surprised that it pulled in so much on it's opening day, but I'd be even more surprised if it manages to achieve a total gross on the level of the Dark Knight. We're talking about a target market with notoriously short attention spans, so I'd expect this to do well for a few weeks before the numbers drop off.Still, it gives us a good excuse to bring this up again:http://digg.com/movies/How_Twilight_should_have_en ... |

They can still pick him. If they do say they'll have to have him (or another center) playing the wing, which is generally the case for Team Canada. The center position is always deeper than others, as generally the center has the most responsibility and is therefore usually played by the best player.

This might work for the 80% of people who don't give a damn what is running on their PC or where it comes from or how it is configured, but you'll have to pry control of my operating system out of my cold dead hands. BTW, Chrome browser is garbage.

That'd take too much time and money that could be spent on IE9, I'd say it's best to just keep updating the browser to keep users on their toes so that we don't end up with an IE6 situation all over again. |
