That is literally the only good news to come out of this.
As Nate Silver over at FiveThirtyEight explains, this is hardly the smoking gun people are making it out to be:"[L]et's be clear: Jones is talking to his colleagues about making a prettier picture out of his data, and not about manipulating the data itself. Again, I'm not trying to excuse what he did -- we make a lot of charts here and 538 and make every effort to ensure that they fairly and accurately reflect the underlying data (in addition to being aesthetically appealing.) I wish everybody would abide by that standard.Still: I don't know how you get from some scientist having sexed up a graph in East Anglia ten years ago to The Final Nail In The Coffin of Anthropogenic Global Warming. Anyone who comes to that connection has more screws loose than the Space Shuttle Challenger. And yet that's literally what some of these bloggers are saying!Incidentally, 2009 is shaping up to be the 5th warmest year on record, according to the conspiracists at NASA."http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2009/11/i-read-thro ...

@stkdividing by zero without an extension of a point or points as inifinity is impossible. don't confuse limits with the actual value of the function. you cannot approximate the value of a function on a real space with a term containing the factor of 1/0, as that value does not exist.if you consider where it is possible to evaluate 1/0, we've been able to do that for hundreds of years - a lot longer than windows 98 has been out..
I thought that said, "I would do anything for a woody!" Reading the article, maybe he would for Woody's woody?!

My guess is they don't want to set a precedent yet of calling American citizens terrorists as they would also have to lump a large majority of extremist-Christians into that label. But if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... |

1. They don't MAKE you upgrade. IE look at all the XP computers everywhere while we're talking about Win8.2. Periodic updates are a fact of life. If they released one version and stopped, they might as well shut down the business and say what they have is 'good enough'.3. I don't 'suffer' as a result of updating my OS once in a while anymore than I 'suffer' when I have to get my transmission fluid changed every few years or buy new tires.4. Profit goes into R&D on the next system. It's not cheap paying that many highly skilled employees to support a current system and develop a new one.
