@ lexpattison:"Thirdly, name a government RUN institution that has widespread fraud? One without some type of unnatural marriage to private industry."And then you go on to list "medicare" & "telcom" as examples but in your first post you say:"This argument works for any other large infrastructure endeavor (Health Care, Communication Infrastructure, etc.)"In your own words you are contradicting yourself.Look, I'm not against your opinion. In truth I agree with most of it, I was simply trying to highlight that government is subject to fraud as well and that it can often get away with more since it must be its own enforcer. PS: I didn't digg you down. :)

I agree that it sucks. But you know that is the way it is set up, just like everyone else does. It is a little retarded to complain about it. That's like going into McDonald's and complaining that you got a stomach ache. There are about a million comments like yours and there is really no point..
The Daily Show is as you said, primarily a platform for satire of the "real news", and so isn't a true news source in of itself. However, Stewart has established himself as one of the best interviewers of his generation, and unarguably one of the best on TV right now, transcending even his own brand of news satire with (often) serious, in depth interviews typical of a traditional news program, that only as an aside contain humor, rather than being humor-driven. I think his interview style helps establishes an idea of "what a news program could be" that is separated from the genre of news satire.!

1. What socialist agenda? Clearly, you have no idea what socialism is, like most conservatives.2. Baseless speculation. We don't know what Obama would do unchecked because he's not unchecked.3. If his ideas are so out of mainstream, why do they poll so well with people every time neutral language is used?4. You're ignorant if you think the left is more likely to deficit spend. Compare Clinton to Reagan.?

They have nothing else to offer except hoping for Obama to trend negative. It's sad really, but this is what happens when the party of fiscal conservationism gives up being fiscally conservative.

Where does the "pretty much" come in - the UK government appears to be completely shameless about only being interested in corporate interests. What amazes me is that people actually expect the Conservatives, of all people, to be any better!

fact: everything on the earth was generated by the earth. it magically can fuse molecules together even though it isn't a star. Also comets never brought any matter to the earth. |
