Or paying $25 to go 3 miles to an airport in Mexico. But here's another.My husband and I split a taxi with someone we met on a train in Eastern Europe. My husband paid the fare, only to learn that our train friend had already paid in full while we were getting our bags out of the trunk. The cabbie, capable enough of understanding where we needed to go, pretended he didn't understand what we were upset about, though he clearly knew he'd been paid double.
