Europes problem not the U.S. since soccer here will never compete with baseball and football.
Kind of like the difference between Windows and MacOS? I forget which is the more successful. ***** fanboys on the frontpage...

"...make private insurance cheeper (sic)."Sorry, the CBO is predicting the exact opposite of this:http://www.cbsnews.com/blogs/2009/10/30/politics/p ...Also, skyrocketing malpractice insurance has had a greater effect on health insurance premiums than uncompensated care. Of course, there's no way the Democrats would turn their back on such a key constituency:"An Examiner analysis of the 15 firms on the National Law Journal's "2008 Plaintiff's Hot List" shows that for 2009, their employees have contributed $636,305 to federal politicians and PACs. Only $4,875 of that amount has gone to Republicans, meaning that the nation's top trial lawyers are giving more than ***99 PERCENT DEMOCRATIC*** Democratic this year."http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/blogs/be ...In fact, they made it even easier for them to bypass states' tort reform:http://www.cnn.com/2009/OPINION/11/09/frum.trial.l ...Bravo, political hack..
Where's the hypocrisy? Do you know what that word means?!

From the article: "The Palace of Knossos on Crete, built around 1,700 B.C., features definite latrines: large, earthenware pans connected to a water supply that ran through terra-cotta pipes. Europeans had nothing of comparable sophistication until well into the 16th century."I know what they meant to say, but I'm pretty sure Crete is part of Europe.?
While 3D has come a long way, it's still not there. It's little wonder there is reluctance to invest mega dollars in something which may just turn into a fad. At this point a lot of people are still just checking it out and it's not perfect. The glasses start to get quite annoying by the end of the movie and the effect is more like parallax layers then true 3D. I know the studios really want a gimmick that people can't get on their home large screens - but I'm not totally sure this is it.They may just have to end up with accepting 3 for $9.95 at Blockbuster as theatres continue to decline. |

Dugg because I go to UCD. (I wasn't there though)I was in lecture in Wellman hall this morning when a sort of chanting march startled rumbling in the hallway. "JOIN OUR STRIKE! JOIN OUR STRIKE!" And then as I walked out of the building I was greeted by a large crowd chanting "THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE!" Kind of ironic that their protest to save education interrupted class thus disrupting my education. I'm not in favor of fee hikes but what do we really expect the schools to do? I say protest at the capital.

Yep, FAA has blamed it on a "software configuration error". http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601103&am ...IMO, network client applications need to be way, way, way better at self diagnosing problems so that users get a comprehensible heads up about problems as soon as they occur so they know who to tip off about the problem. It is strange this took half a business day to fix on a mission critical system. I have little doubt people were working hard to solve the problem but it is not hard to picture computer programs that eat fault indications and other programs logging warning/error messages to the bit bucket, while users are not given clear indication when/why things are not working. |
