| The other day, I met the sweetest damn cat in the world. On my way home, I stumbled across a water hose that had been left on. I decided to inform the owners, but on my way to the door, a cat popped out from the side of the house. I ignored it because cats typically just stand there and watch you from a distance; however, this one followed me up the steps and rubbed its head against my leg. While I waited for the owners to answer the door, I petted the cat. They never came, so I went around the house to see if they in the back yard. And the cat followed me all the way around, keeping practically a foot away from my heels the whole way. Every time I stopped, it would nuzzle against me, just being as friendly as it could possibly be. When I started walking home, it followed me, even jumping over a stream the water hose had created just to get to me. I barely know that cat, but I absolutely adore it. |

“They don't have language as we do, and, as such, it's impossible for humans to measure it.However, as you said yourself, they practice forms of communication, which is all language is, on a basic level.I'm not saying they have "languages" in terms of things we could record in a sound-dictionary, merely that there is some form of "language" there.

I had a Philips Voip841 phone with a base that connected to my router. Worked very well. My handset broke and you basically can't find it anywhere. You can buy the entire set for $500 right now on Amazon. I paid a little over a hundred. Called Philips. They said it was discontinued due to the manufacturing going out of business and they plan to continue making it in the future but not the same line. Basically they are waiting for this Skype stuff to be sorted out. Bought a Zoom adapter. Despite having to be tethered to the computer, it works great. It was $40.?
*****, you're right! How this stupid piece of ***** made front page? Maybe it isn't so stupid after all... |

Assuming I believe one single word of this article, this just goes to show how ignorant the general public is about how science works. Even if one group is manipulating data (which, admittedly, is possible, and does happen from time to time, unfortunately), do you really believe that does anything to seriously discredit the hundreds of results published in legitimate, peer-reviewed scientific journals by research groups all over the world?Sometimes I think the internet has turned people dumber. Science isn't like writing a blog; you don't get to publish whatever you feel like. Publications go through a rigorous review process prior to appearing in any respected scientific journals. The evidence in favor of anthropogenic climate change is about as strong as for any other widely accepted theory. But some guy with a blog says some hacker has blown up the whole theory. Conveniently, he doesn't bother to provide any evidence for his claims whatsoever. Brilliant.

There is hope for the criminals yet. Just because they got GT-Rs does not mean Abu Dhabi cops can suddenly drive.

Tuition has risen far faster then inflation so yes there is something fishy.I do know part of it is reduced state grants as the state is wasting money locking people up for non violent crimes or giving kickbacks to government fat cats. |
