IN other words - so many people have so much invested in Microsoft products already. Couple that with learning curve and busy lives and my feeling is that other than tech enthusiasts, no one is really going to care much in the general public about Chrome. Linux is a great example - great OS - no overwhelming dent in Microsoft. Looping Apple into the equation is silly, because they are not just an OS, but instead a comprehensive (hardware & software) solution..
Either way, macmcraeart's wrong. Yeah, a slippery-slope logical fallacy exists, but AmnesiacJack's argument is solid. It's a question of where to draw the line. It's clear that a bicycle is not allowed in a footrace, so it's also clear that the line must be drawn somewhere with regard to what is and is not permitted to assist in a footrace. If cyborg-leg-blades are permitted, then where does the line lie?!

As I understand it (and please correct me if I'm wrong), Chrome OS will be very focused on web-based applications, which is where most of Google's business lies. It's supposed to be very lightweight and aimed at devices like netbooks. That sounds like it would not be a very good operating system for applications like gaming. So why is there speculation that Chrome OS might dethrone Windows? It sounds like like Google is going for a niche market, and not so much coming up with a general purpose OS.?
In this analogy, the john was John McCain. Notice they even use the term 'john' in the article. I don't think that was accidental.I don't think he's a bad guy, just kinda went bad in search of power.

Whats stopping people from having a box for single player games and another box for offline games?To make matters worse if you are renting or sharing games you want to play online it's pretty much the same thing. You still get your way.The real problem is a whole flood of Xbox 360's will be on eBay and Craiglist now that have been banned and unaware users will buy them and end up with consoles that can't get online.Rather than outright banning consoles you could just detect when a pirated game is trying to access the service and block it.
