| While I agree with you that this might create great opportunities for people who are otherwise unemployed, you gotta admit that people tend to stay on the platform that they're trained on. Back in college, class was taught on Solaris, and the usual *nix development and debug tools. At my current job, I still use vim, gcc, gdb, and automake to develop software. Just a week ago I met a CS professor from Hong Kong. They teach their undergraduate students with Visual Studio. All of his graduate students still choose to use Visual Studio. |

“Why do lame commentators keep bringing up obscure fart apps? In my browsing through the iPhone App Store I've only come across maybe two. But the sheer size of the store means that I also saw a wide variety of other apps, which these lame commentators never bring up. So while I didn't see fart apps, I was, in the meantime, downloading apps for GPS navigation, measurement, conversions, gas mileage, photography, time mamagement, social networking, television schedules, restaurant locating, financial management, graphic design reference, network administration, transit system tracking, and even a couple of games. So while you question whether the world needs 500 fart apps, what that really means is proportionally more choice in every category...especially and including the practical ones. After all, if one of the points of your argument is that Android is going to be easier to develop for, then aren't you saying that we should expect Android to amass a far higher number of now easier-to-make-and-publish fart apps than the iPhone has ever seen? Or are you arguing that the relatively few people lucky enough to program their own apps are the most important market, choice for the rest of us be damned?(Note: I do think the iPhone app store should loosen up, the approval process is stupid.)

"A real man is secure enough in his masculinity to not think twice about asking how he looks" -- A real man doesn't ask how he looks, because he doesn't care what other people think.?
yeah, cheating. |

"300" joke? Check. "All your base" reference? Check. Tongue-in-cheek use of the word "win?" Check. Picture should be titled, "How to throw together a hodge-podge of old internet memes into a humorless lowest-common-denominator joke for the masses."
