Cracked always comes up with very perceptive analyses, but never something like this.We don't examine and think about our daily cultural on a deep enough level to become aware of these trends, tropes, and patterns. Authors don't realize that, for instance, when they write Harry Potter, they've created a cult of superior ueber-menschen with superhuman abilities. Children idealize these characters, and even adults: but they don't understand, themselves, why.The fact that these films are so popular and well-received and accepted tells us not about women's taste in films, but about our culture's way of raising young girls to be receptive to these malformed concepts of femininity.
