I'm all for democracy and openness, but built into the system from the start must be a system of checks and balances such that cannot be disturbed, as in the case of the United States electing G.W. Bush twice.
Why so serious?

“@ lexpattison:"Thirdly, name a government RUN institution that has widespread fraud? One without some type of unnatural marriage to private industry."And then you go on to list "medicare" & "telcom" as examples but in your first post you say:"This argument works for any other large infrastructure endeavor (Health Care, Communication Infrastructure, etc.)"In your own words you are contradicting yourself.Look, I'm not against your opinion. In truth I agree with most of it, I was simply trying to highlight that government is subject to fraud as well and that it can often get away with more since it must be its own enforcer. PS: I didn't digg you down. :)

Damn...beat me to it. +1?
The dutch need that land(more than we need ours), and they have paid and labored to protect it properly. We have far less to gain by protecting New Orleans than the Dutch do in protecting their floodplains. |

And how many chemicals are IN our bodies. Even basic biological processes support dozens of chemicals and reactions. All going on RIGHT NOW in your body.

Sounds like the UK government is now bought and paid for by the entertainment industries. Governments should be for the people! Not helping an outrageous industry target consumers because they waved goodbye to the old way of doing things, ie downloading music legally or otherwise. They should be helping consumers battle these faceless corporations and their assinine fees, not helping create them.Nanny state indeed. |
