Proper standards support is what is much needed, not noise.
We can do better than rely upon fickle politicians, we can take things into our own hands. Look at http://misterangry.wordpress.com/2009/11/21/the-ti ... and pass the word any way you can.

How about Alex Jones? :).
Favorite recent episode: The Bare Midriff. Where an idea like that comes from.... brilliance!

All of which can be shared at lightspeed. Maybe this Third Wave infoconomy isn't quite as shiny as it is supposed to be. |

We really were a lucky generation, we had some of the best tv, the 80s was movies, the 70s was music, the 60s was change, the 90s was the TV. Seinfield, The Simpsons, South Park, Beavis and Butthead, Family Guy, Freaks and Geeks, shows like Hey Arnold, Doug, Are you afraid of the dark, Keanan and Kel, All that, Real Monsters!, I am sure I missed a bunch of other great shows. I cannot think of them all right now.

It is the Whitehouse who presents the budget to Congress. While congress technically has the "power of the purse", it is rarely exercised to actually cut spending. At any rate, the concept of "starve the beast" is a uniquely Republican idea and "trickle down" economic policy is indisputably the brain child of the Reagan administration. On top of that, the rubber stamp action of the Republican majority during the first six years of Bush's presidency racked up some of the largest deficits in U.S. history. That's fairly indefensible. But, hey, I get it. Conservatives can do no wrong. Nothing to see here, move along.

Wouldn't have dugg you down if you didn't make so many mistakes but you're also pretty off base with that comment as it is.

As if the cringe worthy sexist subtext of the novels wasn't enough, the movies feature some of the most overwrought acting I've ever seen. The dialog plays out like bad fanfiction, the setting is about as compelling as a desk chair, and the characters have all the depth of a piss stain and are about as appealing.I have no idea what is supposed to the least bit appealing about these books or movies. None. Have people just not read good writing before? Have they not seen a good movie before? The only way I can imagine someone enjoying all of this is by virtue of simply not knowing any better. The really disturbing part is that I'm at university and all of these 18-22 year old girls are just as obsessed with these books as your average middle schooler. These are people I would otherwise respect, and yet here they are obsessing over stories that, aside from being just poorly conceived and written, effectively set women back 50 years.I just... why? Can anyone explain to me why? |
