| The thing about Stewart is how he does satire. It's very easy to tell what is fake and what is not. |

She writes her own songs as well as hits for others. She actually plays an instrument quite adeptly. She doesn't lip sync. And she's almost always pitch perfect. While she is dancing I might add. She also produces her own material. What else does this girl have to do to get some respect? Oh wait. She could do a CD of music that only a few people like or ever will hear of. You guys can feel good about liking it because it wouldn't actually be "popular." Henceforth, it would be considered "pop." You and other pretentious music critics can pontificate about how that CD is her only good effort. And for you people claiming she has no lyrical substance; what would you consider lyrical substance? Seriously, what is substantial these days? Should she be whining about her insecurities? Would that count? If that is the case, I have news for you; we're sick of it!You want to talk about substantial lyrics, give me some protest songs. Or songs that are about tragedy and redemption. That's substance. But pop music isn't going in that direction right now. People want to escape, dance, and see things they don't encounter everyday.Crying about how you don't fit in while growing up with a full stomach, in a good neighborhood, with mommy and daddy footing all the bills doesn't equate "substance" to me. We've had that for almost twenty years now on the rock scene. And, on the Rap and R&B front we've had the "thug ascetic." Too much of that, too. Way too much. Now, it's time for fantasy to make a comeback in pop music. And in my opinion, whats been missing in pop music is flash. Not just trashy clothes, but serious, "where did she/he come up with that outfit / concept?" It's time for music to be an escape again. I'm just waiting to see if Adam Lambert will bring back "Glam Rock." If he does that, pop music will become interesting.I just don't want to hear anymore lyrics from depressed suburban kids or wanna be thugs. It's time for something bigger, louder and, quite frankly, more fun!Got to love the "musical elitism" that some people have. "Good" music is subjective at best. I know of some classical and jazz musicians who think anything that isn't jazz or classical is utter talentless crap. I say If people enjoy it, it's music. That's all that matters. All the marketing in the world isn't going to sell an act or songs that people don't like, or on some level, relate to. Musical skill, Auto-tune, or image has nothing to do with passion. That's what people connect to on records. Whether it's Lady Gaga or Elvis Costello, they each bring a certain "quality" to there recordings that people like.Lastly, if you think making dance/pop records is so easy, why don't some of you guys do it and get rich? I know if there is something I could easily do, that was legal and ethical, and it would make me a millionaire, I do it. Oh wait, I know why you don't do it. You can't because you don't have the talent. Oops!
