| The link to politifact, only talks about insurance company profits over the last 8 years. I didn't find a link to the increase in doctors vs administrators but I encourage you to research it yourself to prove me wrong. Alright so you want to point out the fraud rates on medicare. Those people who defraud medicare are breaking the law. I am saddened by the way people try to take advantage of the system, and I agree it is a huge problem. But that is not a fault of the system. By the same logic I could say that we shouldn't have laws against murder, because people still murder, but that is a ridiculous argument because no matter what, people will always break the law to benefit themselves. And no, the administrators do not work for the insurance companies. The reason why I bring up the increase in administrators is because the system has become so complex, that it takes many trained individuals just to figure out how to bill medical expenses correctly, and those jobs add to the cost of healthcare. I can't remember the exact numbers off the top of my head, but there is something like 3,000-5,000 different health insurance plans in this country, and each one is billed differently. It has become a bureaucracy that makes the federal government look pale in comparison. And that's how they make money. By stalling and questioning, and complicating the process. I went to school for 8yrs to get my PharmD, and I have to answer daily to people with BA's in business that have no clue about medicine. It takes up my time, my staffs time, doctors time, nurses time, etc... And that is how they make their money. They are the epitome of a middle man, and they do a diservice to this country. Why do you think health care has become so expensive? Look at the links I provided. The average MD makes about 139,000$ a year, while the insurance executives, with absolutely no medical knowledge make millions off of our sweat and sacrifice. Is that what you want? |

Personal Experience: Being of the older generation (my portrait here is over 500 years old) I sort of 'fell into' free computer classes a couple of years ago. Living in Humboldt County, CA. CalJobs there has free PC classes. Everyone in the class was doing something different. Most start with Word. All practice typing daily. I went in knowing some basics and came out being able to do pamphlets, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Word...I now have 2 web sites just for fun. Did it help me get a job, no. I loved Mail Merge but can't even find an employer who sees the benefits. - Anyhow, I'm doing 'In home care' and loving it. I take care of my friend, get paid. I have lots of time to check out MRSA, wound vacs, get more music/ videos, try simple on-line tutorials and talk to you at Digg. My pet peeves: FWD,fwd.fwd emails and those who won't use Bcc. Doing my small part for humanity and the internets.ps - I have a degree in Horticulture which is also useful in Humboldt.

I always get dugg down for saying this, but what the hell.Science is as brutal and competitive as business and politics combined. People devote their entire careers to a particular theory or area of study and often the choice is made before leaving college and can be very difficult to change should their field take a drastic change in direction. People can do desperate things to protect their life's work and advance their careers, scientists are no exception.?
I work for a small production company and they just bought a 5D and every Zeiss lens and accessory imaginable. I have to say it really does do a great job for the price especially for small jobs and commercials. |
