Because our country resides closer to Mexico than Japan. Duh.
On top of this, at least at UCSB, students in the college of engineering might soon have to pay $900 more than all other students on top of the already proposed 30% tuition hike based on the reasoning that we make more later on in life and can afford it.

“More evidence that governments care more about the interests of special interest groups than the people they represent.

1. What socialist agenda? Clearly, you have no idea what socialism is, like most conservatives.2. Baseless speculation. We don't know what Obama would do unchecked because he's not unchecked.3. If his ideas are so out of mainstream, why do they poll so well with people every time neutral language is used?4. You're ignorant if you think the left is more likely to deficit spend. Compare Clinton to Reagan..
Agreed. Monodelsano should be able to marry any man he wants.!

Crack down on cops abusing their authority. It's not a ***** playground out there. As any cop will tell you, speed limits are there for safety, and they should apply to everyone.

*sigh* I keep having to tell this story.A while back, I bought a glass measuring cup from Wal-Mart. It was labelled, 'Made in the U.S.A.' ...And that's how you know our economy is completely screwed; Wal-Mart is importing cheap American goods. ;DSrsly though, it's about time we start manufacturing something other than useless service jobs for a change. (Yeah, yeah, I know, we do have manufacturing in the country still - tell me with a straight face it's anything near what it was, or should be. :p)

Technology is advancing at a much faster rate? How so? I see more of a trend towards taking the same technology and putting it in a smaller package, such as netbooks. Unsurprisingly, many of them still come with XP installed. I think this is where Microsoft really got it wrong with Vista. They seemed to have the expectation that hardware would have advanced so much that the performance hit wouldn't matter, but it DID matter.I'm also seeing a lot more longevity out of hardware. An old 2-3ghz machine is still quite usable for most business tasks, especially if you bump up the RAM. I remember upgrading PCs around offices yearly because the performance gains were so huge. Not so anymore. |
